Ivan

A character design/illustration for an audio book called "Ivan the Not So Terrible" written by author, musician, legal mind Rich Stim. Was fun to lay textures over simplified volumes. Tried to keep a lid on the color in order to help define the character.

RE: Jon

Thanks oort. What a pain.

I like it. You gave it a much more simplified look than the ones you've shown so far, yet it still has a realistic feel to it. I really want to give acrylics the "old college try" now... and by that I mean try it on my college's dollars.

This is going to sound stupid but which scanner/camera do you use? Mine doesn't even absorb the pencil doodles I do properly. Or are the colours of the actual even more lucious and this is a brighter version?

... Sorry about double-posting, but I mean, is the actual picture done with a lot more colour - which is lost when scanned - or do you use a specific camera/scanner which manages to capture the actual picture properly?

Thought I'd clear the original comment up.

I’ve actually seen the cover and it looks the same, so I'm guessing he has a nice scanner. Besides even If the scanner faded some of the color it could easily be revered with Photoshop, or something similar.

Thanks to the Ron gilbert blog I found this, and I just want to say that you are a true inspiration, Mr. Purcell, and I will be back often from now.
Also I would like to link you in my blog, if thats not a problem.
