On the Subject of T-Shirts

Though I'm too late to create any new T-shirts in time for San Diego's Comic Con I'm tossing ideas around for the next round of Sam & Max shirts for the Fall.

My last shirt was a skull Max and crossbones in green and cream. I liked that it was not a literal rendition of the character and so it doesn't come off as an ad for something.

I liked my first Telltale shirt and and I'm not opposed to plugging the characters into these sort of nostalgic motifs once in a while,...

...but more like the skull shirt, I would like to try and get a bit less specific about the characters and try to think of a few cryptic images that are fun to look at even if you don't know Sam & Max. The rat idea at the top of the post is a new one. As I try some others I'll consider posting them here for your opinions, because I think I heard somewhere that people on the internet are more than happy to express their opinions.

So is that Ratbike shirt available, or going to be available? Because I will have no trouble buying that.

The Ratbike image is just wonderful. The Cactus motel is also cool.

I understand your idea, but I really love your work and... well... I'll have a shirt with any of your images anyday ^^!

I like them all, but the Cactus Motel... that's my favorite. I'd even by the last extra-small one, just so I could have that image.

Wow, speaking of S&M shirts, you might check out the giant rip-off on Woot Shirts today. (I believe it archives at http://shirt.woot.com/Blog/ViewEntry.aspx?Id=8745 after tje 21st.)

Here's my opinion:

I always like t-shirts that "advertise" fictional locations (so of course I love the Dancing Cactus one).

Comic book places are my biggest wish, notably 'The Moon' or 'Captain Quasimodo's Island of Amusement'.

A Mystery Vortex one would be a cool shirt to own, but that would probably have legal issues...

As a proud owner of the Max & Crossbones t-shirt, I'd LOVE to have more Sam & Max stuff to cover up my nakedness. I especially like the Dancing Cactus Motel shirt out of the lot, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I'd vote "Dancing Cactus" over "Rats on a Bike."

"Break a Leg" at the Eisners this week, Starchie!

I love the 3rd (logo withe them and the Desoto) and the 4th one (the catcus tourist trap one) a lot and would definitly buy those.

I loved the Max skull and crossbones shirt.. How about an ancient sam & max carving as a t-shirt idea?

That dancing cactus motel shirt is a killer. You should definitely have that one done.

Have fun at comiccon. I didn't get tickets in time this year, so I'm not attending. See you...APE?

Maybe something in the style of one of those awful Ed Hardy shirts but featuring Sam & Max.

The danger is that only people who know who Sam & Max are would realize you aren't an idiot for wearing it.

Love the look of the rats and the Dancing Cactus! Those are stylish items I would CERTAINLY be seen dead wearing. Alive too maybe.

I would absolutely buy the shirt with the rats! I'm still kicking myself 15 years later for not buying the old old Sam and Max shirt for sale in the Adventurer, the one with Max carrying the sizzling-weasel-on-a-stick!

I want to see Sam as a robot, and Max with boobs.

Then I'll think about maybe buying it.

TOTALLY like the rats on a bike and the cactus motel. To be honest I really don't like the skull and the car line one. The Rats and Cactus Motel = WIIIIIIIIIIIIN. really, its black and white to me.

A SNUCKEYS shirt would also be cool with Sam & Max loitering around outside.

Thing is, you've got such a great personal style and i feel it gets wasted on the skulls and car shirt. On the rats and cactus shirt, at least your personal line comes through like a breath of fresh air. The other two are devoid of it for me, totally, and too...uh...I dunno....bleakly designy and not connecting with me on some Sam & Max level.

Weasel on a stick? There's a shirt like that? Man.

Is there ANY possibility to get that Desoto image into a wallpaper, or on a shirt that's available outside of the Comic Con?
I'd trade my car, house and my mom for it.

I guess I will put in my two cents for the shirts. First off, all of the designs are really cool (I'm going to eventually buy the Max skull & cross bones shirt from Telltale).

In order of how much I would like to see them on a shirt I would have to say the Sam & Max with the red background is #1, followed by the Cactus Motel as #2, and the rats as #3.

As for ideas of cryptic designs, I think something focusing just on the DeSoto might be cool, maybe blasting off to the moon with lit match heads coming out of the tailpipe? (har har!)

Any of the places from the original adventure would make good t-shirts. Gator Golf.
A couple more "rats doing mysterious things" shirts would be cool too (playing a S&M pinball? Too much to hope for.)
A Dr. Fritz Nunkie psychic gall-bladder removal shirt?
STUCKEY'S!!!
