Piratey
Some rarely seen pirate paintings.
Created for some specific purpose or simply for the sheer love of the subject matter? Um,..It's been way too long to remember.
If anyone cares I'll see if I can dig up some more.

Blue Monday
Never heard of a phenomenon called Blue Monday.
But that is the term I suddenly hear this day being called on the radio. Something about gloomy weather and generally pessimistic outlooks. The most depressing day of the year they say. In case I hadn't been alerted to the fact now I can know for certain that today is meant to be a bummer.
Mission accomplished.

Musical Dumpty
Some time ago I got it in my head to paint a new angle on Humpty Dumpty. Why this nursery rhyme character?
Because he's a living organism carrying the embryo of another organism inside of his own body?
Because he can be destroyed and recreated?
Because he shamelessly has both vaguely suggestive words Humpty and Dumpty as parts of his name?
You got me.
These memories are lost forever like tears in a turtle-shaped wading pool. Or something...

What the Hell?
I've got piles of this stuff. It's cascading out of my flat files and building up in geologic layers on my art table. I'll be posting some old conceptual burblings as well as whatever my most current time-sucking-after-hours pursuits happen to be.
I promise to add some links to the work of my inspiring colleagues and I'll pretty up that stock title bar one of these days.
Stay tuned.

"REMORSE"
Tuesday January 8th, Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles hosts the opening for a group show called “Under the Influence: A Tribute to Stan Lee”. 100 artists painted works based on the creations of Stan Lee and "The Man" himself will appear at the opening early in the evening. The show will hang until February 1st.
Behold, cowering mortals, my tiny contribution to the high-spirited falderal. It's listed under my lesser known pseudonym, Steve Purcell. GO BUY IT!
