The Kid

Here's my part of an overdue barter exchange. It'll be nice to finally have it off the books. I wanted to do some kind of pulpy western cover but cute. Or as cute as I can manage. I like working in garish colors, maybe from growing up looking at Basil Gogos Famous Monsters covers. It's more of a challenge for me to go more neutral which I might try in my next piece.

Dan's Dog Carol

Instead of a real post this week, I'll piggyback onto my friend Dan Scanlon's blog. Yesterday he posted a bunch of sketches of his dog that I had done a while back. You can see the progression of what happens when you keep exaggerating the same traits over and over. Take a look. And check out Dan's great series of dog toy paintings while you're there.

Carol

Another installment in the wedding gift series. The couple has a dog that's more cute and less cartooney than the one in the painting and they spent their honeymoon in Kauai. I guess you could sense a pattern in how these paintings develop.
Acrylic on board.
