Harold in Repose

Acrylic piece done for a group show called Crazy 4 Cult 2 at Gallery 1988 in LA. 100 artists have done works inspired by classic cult films. Opening reception is tonight from 7 - 11 and is hosted by Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier. Stop in if you're in the neighborhood:

7020 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90038
(South East corner of Melrose & LaBrea)

I promised a high school piece but the one I pulled onto my flash card today vanished. I'll find it again and post it this weekend.

Cool painting!

Why are all the cool shows in LA? Why is everyone afraid of Bay Area? :(

I didn't look yet, but by Harold I'm guessing Harold and Maude. Thats actually somewhat bizarre; I was just thinking about that movie this morning. As for the lost work, at least you're not still in school. Teachers are pretty unforgiving about the mutual hatred between student and computer, from personal experience at least...

Gallery 1988 has a location in San Francisco as well. They have shows rotating through there constantly. I was in their first show up here with a bunch of other local artists.

One great memory was doing volunteer time at a railroad museum that has the old car that was used for Maude's house. The art department folks for the film were always complaining about it. The biggest one was matching paint on the ceiling. It had fifty odd years of nicotine, having been a parlor car, back when smoking wasn't such an evil.

This looks like a "paul is dead" painting.
