Sam & Max and Stuckey's
I'm writing this perched on a box of Stuckey's Pecan Log Rolls. YES, Stuckey's is a real place and has paid tribute to Sam & Max in their corporate newsletter. In the first of a series of articles on Stuckey's contribution to pop culture they have called out Sam & Max for their multiple interactions with the iconic roadside America gas and gift shop. Whew! And I thought they were calling to sue the crap out of me!

I really love Sam & Max. It's such a great series, and when I read the comics and think about them, I have all these fond memories of my family, like the first time we drove (something like) eight hours to Disney World when I was five, and it's kind of hard to believe that I can feel this uncannily deep connection to the series when there are so few comics to begin with. I really don't know how you did it.
Steve,
This is awesome!

Yay! You have made your mark on American culture.
Sam and Max was my first exposure to Stuckey's, even though I've never been to a Stuckey's to this day. Texas has Buc-ee's with a Beaver though.
Dear Sir,
I was not able to reach your contact any other way so could you send me any sort of contact at komiko.strip@gmail.com. It is a matter of copyrights and publishing Sam&Max.
Every time I pass a Stuckey's, South of the Boarder, or some other gift shop advertised in abusive orange lettering on the highway I think of Max's "You're passing Stuckey's! Are you crazy?!" line and can't help but smile.
Hi Steve, I just dragged my family through endless miles of roadside stops and attractions, trusty copy of Hit The Road in the trunk, just in case. I think they're starting to get the Cone of Tragedy references.
I did not know that Stucky's really exist. But it's still full of nostalgia for me. I will bring my preserving jars when I visit the states (than finally I get this gherkins).
Yeah, I didn't know Stuckey's existed either until I and my girl and her family were on a road trip together and we stopped at two of them. The first one I looked up seeing the giant Stuckey's sign and geeked out, babbling something about a canine shamus and rabbity-thing. My girl and her parents looked at me like I was crazy, lol.
Not for nothing...but Sam & Max Hit the Road did not feature Stuckeys...the stores in the game were named "Snuckeys". So for all of you who remembered the store as being Stuckeys, buy a copy of the game on GOG and play it again!
